PFAS Chemicals

             - by Kelowna Dentist Dr. Klara Burlacu

Did you know that PFAS chemicals are toxic for our bodies? Scientists are concerned about the link between PFAS chemicals and health problems such as testicular or kidney cancer, thyroid disease, high cholesterol, low birth weight and effects on the immune system.
PFAS is present in a range of consumer products such as fast food packaging, non-stick pans, waterproof clothing and even in some dental floss. We can even be exposed through indoor air or contaminated drinking water.

We care about the products we use on our patients, and our practice is devoted to comprehensive and preventive patient care by using as much as possible the most biological ways of treatment available.

Bioactive Dental Materials

- by Kelowna Dentist Dr. Klara Burlacu

Bioactive dental materials are used in conservative dentistry for their capacity to regenerate, repair and reconstruct bone and dental tissue. These materials are antibacterial, anti-fungal, non-carcinogenic and non-toxic. They have conductive and inductive properties with effect on growth factors and other cells, and they have the ability to create a biological response in the living tissue stimulating repair and healing.

Today our office is using a variety of these materials (Biodentine, MTA, calcium hydroxide, and Admira composite restoration material to name a few). The bioactive, biocompatible and regenerative qualities of these dental materials help us to provide a more conservative and holistic treatment for our patients.
