Invisalign Near You
Being complimented on your smile is priceless. However, many individuals are not blessed with perfectly aligned teeth. In fact, having misaligned teeth can have a negative effect on a person’s self-esteem and confidence. Many factors play into why a person’s teeth develop in the correct or incorrect position as they age. Luckily, in this day and age correcting the alignment of your teeth is much easier than you think. Not only do we have a variety of options, one of these options is innovative enough to accommodate a person’s lifestyle and preferences. This method is called Invisalign.

What is Invisalign?

This modern method of teeth straightening does not require the need to install brackets and wires as traditional braces do. Invisalign begins with a comprehensive consultation with your at Access Dental in Kelowna. Once you have discussed your expectations, asked necessary questions, and have been deemed an ideal candidate, the treatment process will begin. This a digital scanner called the iTero, which will capture the structure of your teeth and gums using high-end optical technology. Once your teeth have been scanned, a 3D impression of your teeth will be generated, including what your teeth will look like once the alignment process is completed.

Invisalign: How Does It Work?
This works the same way traditional braces do, however, it eliminates the discomfort that comes with wearing metal brackets, wires and rubber bands on the teeth. These are aligners that are virtually invisible. They are not made of metal and it comes in a series of trays that gradually shift accordingly. These can make your teeth move up to 0.25 mm per tray. Every two weeks, you will be asked to change to a tray that fits the current status of your teeth. You can wear this by simply sliding them over the teeth. Most patients typically wear 20 to 30 Invisalign aligners during their tooth alignment process.

Who is a Candidate?
When a person has an underbite, overbite, gapped teeth or crowded teeth, it may indicate they are a candidate for the treatment. A person with gapped teeth may have an easier time correcting their teeth through Invisalign at Access Dental in Kelowna than someone who has a severe underbite.
What to Expect
When you choose Invisalign, you have to start with an assessment made by your dentist. It is important to find a dentist in Kelowna who is certified to offer Invisalign treatment. Once the consultation and assessment are done, you may be asked to have a digital scan performed on you. With the 3-D images taken, a smooth, BPA-free plastic is made to fit it. These are invisible and non-irritating trays that are worn for throughout the day and can be removed for eating, drinking, and oral hygiene practices as well as cleaning the aligners themselves. Your teeth will be aligned gradually through this patented thermoplastic design. This controls the force and its timing whenever you eat or speak. The treatment plan will differ according to your condition.

Invisalign vs. Braces

Today, people choose Invisalign in Kelowna at Access Dental over traditional braces due to the convenience we provides. You will be given a set of trays that you can wear over the course of a specific timeline. You do not have to go through the hassle of dental visits to have them adjusted each time. You do not have to go through a change in diet or oral hygiene. Invisalign is removable and can be removed whenever you eat, drink or give your teeth regular cleaning. You can eat anything without the worry of having a bracket removed. Most of all, people love Invisalign for their discrete and pleasing appearance while being worn. Your natural tooth’s appearance will not be altered. You can go on doing regular activities without having to worry about wearing mouth guards. Speak to your dentist for more information about Invisalign treatment and whether or not you are a candidate.
